Event Description:
Please join the East Bay Leadership Council for a presentation on groundwater storage projects in the East Bay. California's water supply is highly variable, with periods of extreme drought followed by occasional wet years, making groundwater storage an important component of California’s water supply resilience strategy.

This presentation will discuss groundwater storage projects being implemented by Alameda County Water District, Zone 7 Water Agency, and the East Bay Municipal Utility District. These East Bay water agencies operate facilities that can recharge aquifers with excess surface water. Their groundwater recharge methods vary depending on the surface water sources available and the local hydrology and geology.

OUR SPEAKER

Grace Su is a Senior Civil Engineer in the Water Supply Improvements Division at EBMUD. Grace supervises the Regional Projects section, which focuses on developing long-term projects and programs to help enhance the reliability of EBMUD’s water supply, particularly during dry years. Regional Projects is currently responsible for developing concepts for a larger groundwater banking program in San Joaquin County with partner agencies, implementing the East Bay Plain Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Plan, and facilitating the Bay Area Regional Reliability effort.
