Event Description:
Please join the Water and Environment Task Force to receive a briefing of cutting-edge research conducted at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) that has explored revolutionary technologies to help California achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. The goal of carbon neutrality was established by Senate Bill 100 and signed into law by Governor Brown in 2018. While a growing number of jurisdictions around the world have adopted carbon neutrality pledges, the LLNL report titled "Getting to Neutral Options for Negative Carbon Emissions in California" found at https://livermorelabfoundation.org/2019/12/19/getting-to-neutral/ is the first report to identify where to find carbon removal opportunities.

About our Speaker:
Roger Aines is the Energy Program Chief Scientist at LLNL. Prior to this, he was the Carbon Fuel Cycle Program Leader at LLNL, where he worked on integrated research and development in energy, climate, and environmental aspects of carbon-based fuel production and use. Dr. Aines has a B.A in Chemistry from Carleton College and a PhD in Geochemistry from the California Institute of Technology.
