About the Senator
Senator Jesse Arreguín was elected in November 2024 to represent California’s 7th Senate District, bringing over 16 years of public service experience and a results-driven focus on economic resilience, housing, and infrastructure. He previously served as Mayor of Berkeley, where he became the first Latino and youngest person elected to the role in over a century.
Raised in a working-class family impacted by housing instability, Senator Arreguín has translated personal experience into pragmatic policy leadership. As Mayor and City Councilmember, he advanced initiatives to increase affordable housing production, modernize downtown development, and strengthen public-private partnerships to meet community needs.
He has served on key commissions focused on planning, zoning, and rent stabilization, consistently working to balance equity with economic vitality. In the State Senate, he is prioritizing solutions to homelessness, workforce development, and infrastructure investment—issues critical to both quality of life and regional competitiveness.
